As part of Volunteer Week, today we would like to introduce you to amazing people who make FAN what it is, our fantastic FAN Group Facilitators.
.
We’re lucky to have around 40 active Facilitators — most of them volunteers, with a few carrying out the role as part of their work — and several more currently waiting to do our Facilitator training so they can lead groups of their own or help with existing groups.
.
FAN Facilitators are warm, insightful people who give their time each week to welcome participants, guide conversations, and help everyone feel confident taking part. They keep meetings running smoothly, on time, and on topic — creating the friendly, respectful space FAN is known for.
.
Their work goes beyond the hour long meeting. Facilitators often find and book venues, promote their groups, set up and tidy rooms, or organise Zoom sessions for online meetings. They also support FAN at events and join our twice yearly Facilitator Get Togethers and other events.
.
Most Facilitators complete FAN’s training programme, along with additional learning on topics such as safeguarding, being dementia friendly, GDPR best practice, ensuring our groups stay safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.
.
This year, our work with volunteers is also supported by a grant from the National Lottery Awards for All project, which will include helping us continue to support our wonderful Facilitators.
.
We are endlessly grateful to every one of our Facilitators — FAN simply wouldn’t exist without you.
