Belle the next screening for the Women's Film Club

  24 September 2014

October is Black History Month, and we're delighted this month to be screening a period drama with a difference. Belle tells the story of a mixed race woman - the illegitimate daughter of a naval officer and a slave - who is sent to live on a grand English estate with her uncle. She grows up leading a privileged life of wealth, but in a society which can never accept her on account of her colour. This is an inspiring film about one woman's struggle - to define her own identity, to define her place in society, and to play her part in bringing an end to slavery. BELLE Thursday 9th October, 10.00am Chapter Arts Centre, Market Road, Canton CF5 1QE BOOK YOUR TICKETS TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!
