The FAN Charity was saddened to hear of the death of Carol-lynn whom we knew as Caz. Caz was a big inspiration in the early FAN Groups. Gill met her first when Caz was a volunteer in her class at the ESOL community classes in Grangetown School which were run by the Parade ESOL service. Caz had previously been a Community Police Officer in Cardiff Bay.
She was enthusiastic and warm and helped to find the first venue for us - so that we could run a FAN Meeting. She went into the Salvation Army and met the Captain and Joyce who agreed we could start a FAN Group there and they have been supportive all the way through the development of the FAN Charity. As a result of their agreement to our trialling FAN at the venue we started the first Women's FAN Group there in March, 2003. And it is still going!
Our thoughts and sympathies are with Caz's daughter Emma, her sisters and Barrie - who came to FAN because of Caz and also became a Trustee. My memories are of her warmth and encouragement. She was special.
