Jo
.
I was introduced to Jo by her daughter-in-law Ruth. She thought that Jo and I would get on and we did! We were immediately at ease with each other. I enjoyed her stimulating company, her mind was alert and ready to take on new ideas throughout her nineties.
.
I invited her to a local FAN Group and she enjoyed it and came regularly and sometimes to more than one group!
.
She loved meeting people and travelled a lot in her retirement years. She embraced Ba'hai and enjoyed conveying their principles and meditation to others interested.
.
She was an internationalist, fascinated by different cultures and from the start understood that FAN Groups wanted to welcome people of different ages and faiths encouraging each of us to be generous by listening to others without talking and speaking for only a few minutes during our turn so that everyone had an opportunity to share their feelings and thoughts during our one hour meetings.
I loved hearing stories from her childhood and growing years.
Jo had very strong principles and was convinced we could help each other to create a better, kinder world where we tried not to hurt each other.
.
So many of us who knew Jo through FAN benefited from knowing her. She had learned a lot about human nature through her long life and often used her wisdom to help anyone going to see her with their anxieties and pain. She is second from the right in the photo below.
A very special person has passed on from our day to day lives but so much of what she taught us about facing life will continue to help her close large family and many many friends. I agree with all the FAN friends who've said it was a pleasure and privilege to have known her.
